Hamed Omar has 27 years of experience in the strategic use of Information Technology to enable business growth. His career spans consulting in database architectures and large systems implementations to senior executive positions developing IT strategy and system architectures, as well as managing large technology infrastructures.

His leadership positions include:

• Senior Vice President of IT for Technology Infrastructure, Operations and Corporate Procurement at Sallie Mae
• Vice President and Director positions at Sallie Mae, for corporate database management, systems architecture, corporate security, and telecom
• Consultant for Computer Management Systems LLC, specializing in database architectures, large systems design and implementations

Major projects led by Hamed include:

• Led technology integration for the merger of two industry leaders in Education Finance and Student Loan. This entailed fast-track consolidation of multiple large data centers and technology operations, and integration of IT infrastructures and systems to drive cost reduction targets of 25% in technology and 40% of labor - while meeting or exceeding service levels. Later used as a business school case study at Indiana University as a best practice for corporate IT integration.
• Corporate IT optimization to significantly enhance IT delivery while reducing IT annual spend by 20%. Achieved through implementation of comprehensive IT spend and demand management; IT portfolio rationalization; strategic sourcing; organizational consolidation; and architecture simplification.
