Byron Winn
Dr. Byron Winn has been practicing and studying governance and strategy for 28 years, in settings ranging from air combat training — where strategy is immediate and visceral — to business consulting for major global corporations.
His leadership roles include:
- Principal, Activities Processes & Systems and Senior Project Leader at Monitor Group (Cambridge, MA), a leading global strategy consultancy
- F-4E Phantom II flight lead, war plans officer, and operations scheduler, US Air Force
- Faculty, USAF Academy and Head Teaching Fellow, Harvard University
Consulting projects led by Byron prior to founding eos include:
- Revamping the North American retail, catalog and internet strategies of a global retailer to exploit emerging IT capabilities, enabling coordinated multi-channel retailing
- Developing the strategic response to offshore outsourcing for an IT staffing firm
- Redesigning the organization and governance processes of the clinical development arm of a major global pharmaceutical company to increase throughput and improve scalability
- Developing the strategy — taking the enterprise architecture into account — of the European division of a global retailer to enable its transformation from several stand-alone, country-based organizations into a multi-brand, multi-channel, pan-European company
Byron holds a B.S. (with academic honors) from the US Air Force Academy, and an M.A. and Ph.D from Harvard University.
