Business and Functional Strategy: CLIENT EXAMPLES

Case Study 1Case Study 2

Global manufacturing strategy at a Fortune 100
industrial products company

SITUATION:

This company was facing explosive growth and needed to expand capacity in order to meet market demand. They needed to determine in what locations to manufacture which products/components, incorporating numerous factors, including: current and future customer demand by region, location of current facilities, geographic labor conditions/costs, governmental stability, infrastructure costs, supply chain, etc.

SOLUTION:

We worked closely with executives and an operational core team to:

  • determine a workable "fast path" approach due to tight timeframes and rapidly canvass/acquire relevant existing information
  • determine key objectives, outputs and decision points
  • assess the numerous factors critical to the decision-making process and develop a set of candidate scenarios
  • further refine and rate/rank the scenarios based on key criteria
  • formulate and present the strategy, including top scenarios to senior executive team, along with elements of cost, risks and associated critical success factors

RESULTS:

Aligned with the company's budgeting/capital allocation process, the key components outlined in the strategy are being executed in priority order. Significant financial benefits are projected.
